Moving in and Cleanup

Over the past couple of weekends we got the exercise room put together and the utility room cleaned up to the point of being able to put the right stuff in it. While it still feels like the process of moving into our home is dragging out for nearly 8 months now we are getting close!

I got the blue kit out today and got the black one wired up. Even had time for an online jam with the band! We had a river installed in our backyard as well.

Home Theater

I took the day off on Friday to work on the basement. I focused on the home theater area since we need to get the temporary theater room cleaned out and prepped for new new furniture and I have Dish coming in to setup our hopper system.

The theater experience is awesome. The system has never sounded better thanks to the ability to position speakers where I want them and the larger volume to let the sound develop. The bigger room does take more juice but with around 2200 watts we seem to be able to deliver that.

I probably need to do some more dressing or wires but I figured I’d let dish do their thing first and execute the planned tech upgrade I have this summer.

I got all equipment but the exercise stuff out of storage too. Heavy focus on drums today so I can get a practice in with my band!

Our contractor showed up just as I was ready to move to the projector. He built the interior box. Some trim is going to finish this off yet. I almost had a major issue here. The HDMI cable was long enough to get to the projector but not long enough to be pulled out of the box (I wasn’t thinking that the fit would be so tight). I was able to pull a few extra inches out…just enough to make it work!

Powered Up!

The electrician came today and finished the lights and power. I ‘m really happy with the lighting. The central vacuum worked too! I started to load in tonight. There is an amazing amount of dust on our stuff even though it was covered with tarps. The best part is that drumstinance had ended!! The bad news is I am way out of drumming shape. I only played for 5 minutes prior to curfew and my playing was stiff and off.

The LED lights under the counter are great…too bad the cabinets need moved and the lights need to be added to the built-in

Found out today we are probably 3.5 weeks out for counters unless we can find the same stone somewhere else.

Carpet went down and it really makes a big difference on the perceived progress meter. I had a nice clean open surface to work on the screen too!

Finishing

Things are starting to shape up in the cosmetic department. Grout in the bathroom, the marble floor is in and the columns are mostly completed. Things are cleaned up and ready for the carpet to go in tomorrow. Electrical is supposed to be next week.

Got quite a bit of work done on the columns today. The un-cut marble tiles were put down. I wrapped up my portion of the building work by finishing off the rear of the theater area.
